We recently setup a complete gigabit network throughout a large house. The job consisted of running Cat 6 cabling from a central comms room to each room in the house. We decided to run Cat 6 cabling throughout the house, as runs at a higher frequency, its a form of future proofing and the cables capable of running 10GB networks.
Each cable was neatly hidden except for a few which were hidden behind compact trunking. Cables were installed for Computers, TV’s, CCTV and a home server, which all linked to a gigabit switch and finally the router!
Home network installs are becoming increasingly popular now, especially with the increasing trend of having home servers / DLNA servers installed connecting directly to Smart TV’s.
